How Much Snow has Fallen at Home?
How much snow have you gotten at home this season? Do you know how to find out? The National Weather Service can help you.
First, go to the NWS web site.
Then select your region on the map. I’ll pick Southern Maine and New Hampshire.
Next, look in the left-hand column for the word “Climate,” and then click on local. (Here’s the link for this example.)
Then select one of the cities listed. We have, in this case, Portland and Concord. I’ll pick Concord and click “Go.” The result gives me a weather forecast, plus the information I’m looking for: Since July 1, the snowfall has been 24.3 inches, and 23.3 inches of that have fallen since December 1. November must have been a dry month.
I’ve got to play with this tool more. It omits a lot of locations (for some reason, the only station in Colorado is Grand Junction, which isn’t exactly the hub of either the state’s population or its ski areas). But the database may be useful if your city is included.
