Getting Giggly
Looking back at my notes from the Minnesota Ski & Snowboard Expo, I noticed one glaring omission from my blog entry on the subject: The excitement I felt while walking from the parking lot to the convention center. It was almost enough to give me the giggles. And I’m not a person given to giggles.
There’s something joyous about riding or skiing that is hard to understand. Walking through a cavernous room with cement floors, walking from table to table, isn’t in itself interesting. But it’s an in-the-flesh counterpart to those pre-season films put out by Warren Miller and everyone else. The sensations aren’t as great, perhaps, but being able to peruse trail maps, look at new gear, and share conversations with other enthusiasts is energizing.
