    I always use “skiing” with folks who know I ride just because it’s easier to say. I never really skied, and started snowboarding 4 years ago at age 60.

    Skiing does have its advantages. Skis are quiet. You can stand up in them the first minute you try them. You have poles to move around with on flats. You can go faster for a given skill and anxiety level. I don’t blame skiers for liking skiing-only resorts: less noise, less ungrown-up behavior, no snowboarder blockades at the top of ski runs.

    It would be nice to have more media coverage for us older (above 40) riders who don’t do much if anything in the pipe and park because we injure quicker and heal slower. Adventures, stories, how-to’s, advancing, tips, tricks, etc.
